A Voice Told Him To Stab His Wife

Posted by Dr. Milt Olson on

Jonas, from Kagba in the upper west region of Ghana, was known as an angry young man with a violent temper, a drunkard who spent everything on alcohol, and a worshipper of idols. One night he was awakened by a voice telling him to take a knife and stab his pregnant wife through her belly to kill both her and her unborn child. He did everything he could to resist the persistent frightening voice.

It was days later that Jonas left for south Ghana to work on a cocoa plantation. While there he attended a meeting in a nearby village where he heard good news, how Jesus Christ could change his life. It was Moses Sansa Konjon, national coordinator for Meridian University’s training in Ghana, who shared this good news. Jonas kept coming back to hear him speak and finally trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior. Following his conversion, Jonas asked Pastor Moses to accompany him to his house and help him burn all his idols. It was then that he began to experience the full manifestations of a new life in Christ: a changed character, a changed attitude, and a noticeable change in his physical body.

Jonas was invited to attend the basic chronological Bible storying training for evangelism and church planting taught by Ralph Speas of Meridian University, held in Tuna, January 2013. Six months later in June, 2013 Jonas left the cocoa plantation to participate in Growing Disciple training also taught by Ralph Speas. Now armed with the tools he received in both training seminars, Jonas has the vision to take Christ to his village and his family. It was a delight to hear his testimony and see his passion for serving Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
