About Meridian University

The exponential expansion of God's kingdom in the darkest places of the world.

To train willing believers who will in turn train others in evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and Biblical leadership for the purpose of fulling the Great Commission to make disciples in all nations.

  • Train trainers.
  • Train six trainers who each will recruit six trainers to the fourth generation.
  • Train trainers in the field where they will do what they were trained to do.
  • Field training will involve selecting a field, locating a person of peace, preparing the field with prayer and removing barriers by telling God's stories, sharing the Gospel by telling God's stories, inviting listeners to Christ, baptizing new believers, discipling new believers with God's stories, creating seeker groups to continue with God's stories, creating fellowship groups that will become churches, planting churches, and encouraging church plants to select new fields to multiply.
  • Train and facilitate pastors and church planters in developing methods to generate personal and ministry income while carrying out the Great Commission.

Bible

The whole Bible is verbally inspired in its original writings and is God's infallible revelation to man.

Trinity

There is only One God and he exists in three Persons; the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the God-Man who came to dwell on earth in human flesh through the miracle of the virgin birth.

The sufficient and atoning blood of Christ, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to heaven, and His future personal return to establish His visible kingdom on earth.

Salvation

Salvation by faith in Christ alone, not through additional effort, but by His grace as demonstrated by His sacrificial substitutionary death on the Cross.

Church

The universal Body of Christ, consisting of all believers, without regard for race or social status, and the local representation of His Church, a local body of believers who meet regularly for worship, evangelism, discipleship, prayer, fellowship, and ministry.

Sanctification

The need of good works primarily to express the believer's gratitude for God's grace and to provide a living demonstration of God's transforming power as evidenced by a life of faith and holiness.

Our Lord's command to make disciples in all nations, to baptize them, and to teach them all things that Christ taught.

Meridian University of Biblical Training endorses the Baptist Faith and Message - 2000

Why the Name "Meridian"?

Tom Elliff, co-founder of Meridian University walked into my office and said, "Let's name our school Meridian University."  I was alright with that but I thought we should add "of Biblical Training."  But why "Meridian?"
Tom explained.  In the morning, it is a.m., "ante meridian," before noon, and in the afternoon it is p.m., "post meridian." In between a.m and p.m. is "meridian" or when the sun is at its zenith. Otherwise, "meridian" is light at its brightest.
Light is the theme of Meridian University.  Also, "meridian" has reference to the lines of longitude on the earth.  Meridian University has definite lines drawn when it comes to beliefs.  We take a very conservative stance on God's Word.  Tom Elliff said it best.  "Meridian University is a line drawn and a light shown." Now, you know!          Ralph Speas
